Historical Notes

The Add-a-ball version of this game is Gottlieb's 1976 'Ship Ahoy' which was exported to Italy as Gottlieb's 1976 'High Seas'. Two different Sample games are shown here. Their serial numbers are 01080 S followed by 01001 S. They are the eighteenth game and the first game off of the Buccaneer production line. We previously showed a production run quantity of 3,650 which appears in Gottlieb non-engineering records. We have this information in its place: Gottlieb Domestic & Export Sales Sheets for Buccaneer: 3700 total Domestic Sales: 2342 Export Sales: 1358 The above total does not include 112 Sample games produced in 1976 per handwritten documentation identified by Wayne Neyens as coming from Bob Malvasio, a draftsman for Gottlieb whose initials RHM can be found on schematics.
