Historical Notes
The 1-player version of this game is Williams' 1971 'Klondike'. Also produced as a 4-player Williams' 1971 'Jackpot' made for export. A game owner reported to us that he has two examples of this game and both left the factory with the wiring incorrect on the right playfield score reel as compared to the schematic. Two wires were crossed on this right reel which caused incorrect scoring on some score reel combinations. We do not know how many other games left the factory with this wiring error. The promotional photos for Gold Rush and Jackpot are of the same machine but with a change of backglass and score card, and the playfield ball was moved to the other side of the up-post. Unlike production games, in these photos there are no posts in the gaps between the slingshots and the flippers. In the lower playfield, the Special insert is labeled to award 10000 points whereas production games are labeled for 5000 points. Even so, a report for Jackpot stated 5000 points is awarded even if the playfield indicates 10000.
