Historical Notes

Same playfield as Bally's 1981 'Eight Ball Deluxe'. This game was one of three games to utilize the unique backboxes left over from the production of Bally's 1982 'Rapid Fire'. On the Rapid Fire games, the backbox's lower side panels, the panels that extend over the lower cabinet on both sides, can each be described on that game as a 4-sided polygon when viewed from the side. In contrast, the game in the EBDLE flyer shows that these backbox side panels are now each a five-sided polygon, as if a portion of the Rapid Fire backbox panels had been merely sawed off. Most EBDLE backbox side panels are 5-sided as in the flyer. However, pictured in this listing is a game with serial number 2303 and it has the original 4-sided side panels. The top left side of its backbox shows a previous Rapid Fire serial number ERF3002 stamped in the wood along with the correct serial number 2303 for the EBDLE production run. The lower cabinet as expected carries only the serial number 2303. We don't know how many other EBDLE games have the original "Rapid Fire side panels". We removed our unsubstantiated Manufacture Date of October 1982. Instead, available Bally documentation shows only a release (to production) date of 8-9-82.
